Hello everyone,
I just wanted to do a little update. With the help of our Fairfield Moose Lodge and our community in Rockbridge County we were able to raise a nice sum of money for Mikki and her family by raffling off a John Deere Tractor, weed eater, and a leaf blower. What a blessing. But that is not all we did. We were blessed by having a friend of our family donate a 1995 Ford Taurus to help Carrie and Mikki get to and from Charlottesville. This car came to us from 900 miles away---Florida. Yes Mary Ellen if you are reading this, I said Florida…the great sunny, sandy state of Florida. Larry and I thanked the family that donated the car and their reply was it was all the work of our wonderful Jesus Christ. I believe that with all of my heart. I know that Jesus works in great ways, some we understand and then again there are some that we do not understand at all. I am just so blessed.
Our foundation is also going to be helping our little friend Cortez and his family. We know that he no longer has cancer (thank you Jesus) but he is still in and out of the hospital so much do to the side affects of the cancer and its harsh treatment. His mom does not have a car to get back and forth to he hospital either. However they live close enough to the hospital to catch a cab but that is getting very expensive. So we are going to see what we can do to help her out. If you would like to help you can mail donations to:
Ryan’s Happy Trail’s
814 Decatur Road
Fairfield, VA 24435
We do appreciate all of your support.

Amanda, Cameron, and Nathan are all doing well. They are excited about summer being around the conner. Amanda recently started working at a sewing plant that is right up the road from our house. She said that she likes it so much better than the fast food environment.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that we were able to present Carrie with the check and car yesterday. That was a wonderful feeling but not as wonderful as being able to take Mikki to see my horses. She had never been on a horse…now she has. I took so many pictures.
Amanda and Coy brought Mikki her birthday presents because we were not able to attend her party. Amanda did really well until she got home. She cried. Not because of Mikki but because of how much that little girl reminds her of her baby brother. Amanda was like Ryan’s second mom. The entire trauma of loosing Ryan has really taken a toll on her. I tell her that Ry-man is better than we are but that does not seem comfort her at all. She is doing OK but seeing Mikki was hard on her. I ask if she wanted to see Mikki again and she said “of course I do, but give me a little while so I can prepare myself for less pain.” I am proud of her courage.
I will update again soon. Please keep praying for all of the children and their families.
